Time Attack 2025 Pre Season – Cadwell Park

After a successful first outing at Blyton Park last month, an evening session at Cadwell Park was next on the agenda. The venue for the opening round of the 2025 Time Attack season. Since Blyton a couple of changes have been made to the car, all of which were planned months before. One being a new rear wing setup, which not only should be more functional but also lighter than the old version.

As most know, Cadwell Park is far from my favourite track. There is just something about it that I can’t put my finger on but have been trying to overcome it for several years. This time around, I have decided to take a different approach and have some tuition at the circuit to try and find a good rhythm with the circuit. Like any track/test day there is no intention to go all out, trying to set the quickest laps possible. Instead, the focus was mainly on braking, corner entry and track positioning.

With it being an evening session there was realistically only two hours of running time so it was vital to get as much squeezed in as possible. This fast pace approach would also would be a good reliability test for the car.

Happily, at the end of the evening I can report back that everything went smoother than we could have hoped for. The car performed faultlessly all night. I managed to use nearly 40 litres of fuel with only about a 15-minute break in the 2 hours running. I believe we may have had a breakthrough with how comfortable around Cadwell Park do I am heading into Round 1 with a little more confidence than usual.
